SAILING INSTRUCTOR Description updated: 11 May, 2004 Position Description: The Sailing Instructor (SI) is responsible for teaching and assisting in several classes of the BPYC Junior Sailing Program (JSP). This will include classes at several different skill levels and periodic outings. The SI will also assist with Club operations when not involved with the sailing program. The Sailing Instructor reports to the Junior Program Director. He/she also coordinates with the Racing Instructor when assisting in racing classes. The Sailing Instructor supervises any Junior Instructors working with his/her classes.

Requirements: A candidate must have a thorough knowledge of small boat sailing skills, especially seamanship and sportsmanship. He or she should be a minimum of 18 years old, with experience and interest in working with children to develop a lifelong interest in sailing in a safe and caring environment. An applicant must be a self-starter as this is a flexible program and instructor input is essential. US Sailing Certification (Level 1), 1 year teaching experience, US Coast Guard Limited Master's License, and current CPR & First Aid Certificates are required.
